New Yugioh Archetype: Fascinating (Traptrix Discussion Thread)

The artwork of these cards are ridiculous!! They remind me of Akina Fujiwara's artworks, i don't know if i'm crazy or not but here ya go:

So normal traps can be played without interruptions and they can special summon and search each other? I will be building this deck!

Well considering the form of the head and the EYES the last 3 remind me abit of Lyna so I would think that these artworks are indeed made by Fujiwara. Nice find Maxxias : o

I'm in love with this archetype. Their artwork is amazing, and I love cards with excellent artwork.

This archetype can rival those with the Charmer archetype. It's that good!

Or maybe even better in general. Charmer barely has any support while newest YGO archetype tends to have much better gameplay with easy advantage gaining. I don't know what to say about this archetype since it has never been tested. Time will tell. Good artworks for these archetype, anyway...

I might not use them but would like to collect them just for the art work.

I'm alright with this name

Unless we get Doll Monsters in the TCG exclusives like NUMH product description might be hinting at, this will be the only achetype I care about getting for this set.

Actually probably one of the few cards. Only other things I can think of right now are some of the synchros and Flying "C" to make my opponent hate me.

I like these Traptrix look too, and I'll probably integrate them into my EARTH Deck.

Aside from JOTL cards, which do you need exactly?

Honestly, I was kinda joking around at first, but if you'd really be willing to trade, I'm sure we can work something out

I would need as many of the monsters as possible. I have one Blazewing Butterfly, and I have a Lonefire but it's in another deck.
As far as the Spells, the only one I can't see myself getting anytime soon is Lance (but I won't ask that of you since it's so expensive lol).
Traps I would need are 2 Bottomless, 1 Void, and 1 Deep Dark (and 2 "TRAPTRIX TRAP HOLE NIGHTMARE"!). I can't think of any other good Hole cards though (I have Giant Trap Hole, but it's a last resort really).

I probably won't start actively collecting the cards for this until JOTL comes out though. Need to make sure I can pull the girls in the first place.

Tio is like Gishki Beast, she Special Summon her comrade and ready to Xyz Rank 4. Summon Myrmeleo using her effect and enjoy the plus.

Myrmeleo is the best, flexible target for her at the moment. She really get along with Tio.  

Fun fact Akina Fujiwara is the same artist that made the traptrix cards. As you may know about Akina Fujiwara is also the same artist that made this forum fav cards the charmers

Lol, okay I just read an interesting comment from some newb on YGOrganization regarding (get this) the relationship between the Traptrix girls and the Charmers. The quote is below:

Well I haven't heard of this before now, but I have to admit it is an interesting thought to entertain.

So assuming this was true, that would probably mean...

Nephenthes = Wynn
Myrmeleo = Hiita
Atrax = Eria
Dionaea = Aussa

Either way, someone should ask this guy if he has a source for this quote.

I won't take that seriously, it's a joke.

If anything, Master Guide already tell us about Traptrix, and I don't see anything there that implies if those girls are related to Charmers: http://www.ygorganization.com/monsterstories/ (scroll until you see the Traptrix part).

I also checked Japanese wikia (which usually provides better card trivia from Master Guide and other sources from Konami) to find more info, and find nothing about this.

Moreover, it's just too weird to think that Charmers turned into Traptrix or even eaten by them. Doesn't make sense for me and even the art don't have any nods to Charmers except the fact that they both drawn by Akina Fujiwara.

It seems Code of the Duelist was released in Japan yesterday, and with it came a new Traptrix monster! And boy, is she a cutie!

Definitely Akina's artwork again. Her effect to search a fellow Traptrix is pretty nice, and adds some needed consistency to the Deck (Nepenthes might be dropped in competitive builds now), and her Insect typing means Verdant Sanctuary is a must-run now (if it wasn't already). Her Dust Tornado-like effect I'm kinda on the fence about though, and her stats are not as great as the others. But guys... she has effing jaws on her arms!

I really wish she had an on-special summon ability or had her search just trigger on summons period. she's still good, but damn does this kinda hinder her usability. myrmeleo and dionaea still beat her out for normal summon plays, and though it takes a bit more work to set up properly, I'd argue nepenthes does a better job in the long run as well

secondary effect is the most interesting in that you can use it to dodge specific backrow destruction cards like mst, reset a trap hole card recovered via dionaea to prevent it from being banished, or just simply play mind games with the opponent. though it's definitely much more of a situational effect, but still is nice


more importantly though, we got a super nice new hole card

note that your opponent doesn't even have to be the one summoning the link monster to meet its activation requirement, and given that traptrix already have a viable link monster to run, means you could actually potentially be able to trigger this effect as a pseudo-dark hole/raigeki

also, missus radiant triggers grave search on destruction. so even if you have to pop her with breakoff, you'll still get something back in the end
