OCG February 2014 Banlist

For anyone in the OCG, you might have heard about this already, but here is something interesting:

A few similar things to the TCG list (Dragon Rulers and supporting cards got hit, Lonefire and also Plague to 2, and Dragoons to 1) and then some random questionable things, like Ophion to 1 and Bubbleman to 1 (completely unnecessary imo) and Gorz, Grand Mole, and Bestiari to 3 (all terrible, horrible, awful ideas).

And then... Cyber-Stein to 1.

Really? Do they want an OTK format all over again? Now, with the Cyber structure running around rampant, this would be ten times worse. I feel sorry for you OCG guys!

Honest at 2... this means either Bujin or Cyber Dragon would get a power boost. Well, Blue Eyes too, actually. Bujin already has their own Honest and now they will add more Honest? At 2?


Cyber Stein... I have mixed feeling. Could be a one card win or lose. After you pay 5000, and then got veiler'ed. That would be very delicious. But if it's a success, Summon Cyber End Dragon + Megamorph for OTK. Not bad.


Grand Mole at 3... well, what kind of deck would use 3 Grand Mole except maybe some rogue deck? Gorz at 3, very annoying.

I personally don't like Ophion to 1. Evilswarms have basically dropped off the competitive map from that hit. They lose to Dragon Rulers just by default, and they lose to Bujin even moreso now that Honest is at 2. Even Mermails now have a better matchup because they have a better chance of getting out Abyssmegalo unscathed. With only one Ophion, they're either forced to swarm 3 monsters for Ouroboros (or I guess Shock Master, since that's still legal in OCG) or make default Rank 4s that everyone else makes. They therefore become no different from Gadget Xyz and lose their diversity as a deck. I hope TCG doesn't do this!

I had tested a deck with 2 Grand Mole back in August, and it is just "spam your shit over and over again". Ridiculous, and even more funbroke with 3. But you're right, it's not something I can see that's super competitive.

Grand Mole and Gorz to 3 is fine imo, but Bestiari to 3 I must agree it's terrible, horrible, and awful.

1500 ATK get plus by destroying a backrow when tagged, and can turn into Gyzarus and then plus again by destroying any of your 2 cards. Cheap removal.
