“In 2014, Duel will change! Here are the first images of the new main character and his Key Monsters!”
“The Fifth Main Character, Sakaki Yuuya!”
“The TV Anime Series will begin in Spring 2014!”
Okay, so any thoughts? Any speculations? Expectations? Hope? Like it? Hate it? Speculation about the impact of the anime series with OCG/TCG, like new mechanic (its said "In 2014, Duel will change!"), etc?
Discuss!

I don't know what to say... all I know is, the character looks better than Yuma, and probably the power creep would raise again. And I hope the cards design are getting better here. Not just those glorified mecha as their warrior. And... it seems Yugi is gonna be in my top YGO main char list again for the next few years.
Just a feeling, maybe this anime would introduce a new type of monster after synchro and xyz. Well, we'll see about that...

I REALLY, REALLY hope this doesn't happen. But it probably will. -The right monster looks too much like Gagaga Magician. Calling that this guy's rival has a dragon as well. -Is there a manga adaption of this series? Just making sure we weren't completely surprised by this. -Lol whatever happened to Kazuki Takahashi saying 5D's being the last YGO series? -Also, "Arc Five" is totally a misnomer. There were more than 5 seasons in the original Yu-Gi-Oh! if we're going by the anime, so this would make more sense to be called "Arc Sixteen" or something... XD

Maybe Konami promised Takahashi another money bath.
And... maybe this Arc V is another kind of power for the main char to have his a**pull just like Yuma with Zexal. If this is the case then... just another bad writing.

You create a series that makes it so you pretty much never have to worry about any money issues for the rest of your life.
You....
>wrap up all chance of profiting asap >money money money lets GO BEYOND THE LIMIT
choose wisely

Pretty sure the concepts of "arcs" doesn't exist in Japan in that exact term.

*First reaction looking at picture* 'I can't tell... is that a girl? As a Yu-Gi-Oh! Main Character?' *reads details* Okay, it is a guy. *suddenly thinks* Actually, they should have a female MC for YGO at some point! *** Show aside, I'm afraid for the card game. Chances seem high they'll add another new kind of monster to follow up synchro and xyz. When Synchro came out, I thought that was lame in all honesty (still don't really like them that much) And some of you already know that I think the xyz are freakishly overpowered and unfair. It seems the YGO people, in their attempt to make the game better, make the cards more powerful. My issue with that is that it makes it very difficult for previous gen cards to compete with them. Fusion was still able to compete with Synchro, but xyz are insane in comparison to both, so I can only expect it to be even worse with whatever cards they've invented for the new series. I have hope I won't hate them, but it's a flicker.

LOL that would be so lame! But definitely possible... maybe a cast of 5 characters each gets a part of the "Arc"... Whoa, I can't believe I'm actually making predictions about this lol.

That is interesting, actually. You would think this would happen at some point. Maybe they're waiting for Pokémon to do it first XD

Lol at calling them "the YGO people"! For the record, Fusions were only able to compete with Synchros after they made revamps to many Fusion engines (Contact Fusions with Heroes and Glad Beasts, Chain Material & Fusion Gate combos, and overall more powerful Fusion effect monsters). It's basically the same thing they did with JOTL; they just made new Synchros that kept up with today's game (and of course better Synchro-centric archetypes). Power creep is going to exist no matter what kinds of new cards are added, tbh. It's just that Xyz were made in such a way that spiked the power creep up so high that the overwhelming majority of the game became completely obsolete. I'm afraid for the card game too, but I've basically come to expect it now, and won't be surprised if some new gray monster shows up with stars running down the side of the card or something LOL

Don't really know how else to refer to them... I also didn't like the who 'rank' thing. I didn't even realize that was a different thing for a while (I thought the difference between 'level' and 'rank' was like the difference between a 'magic' card and a 'spell' card. That being NONE.) until someone on DN pointed it out to me because I used a card that specifically used the word 'level'. All like "lol, doesn't work, xyz have ranks, not levels!"

I'm actually thinking, if someday the YGO main character is a girl, we probably might get a new type of card with the color pink...

Technically, going by the official rulebook, traps are the color PURPLE, which is apparently different from VIOLET. So that means the color pink, especially hot pink, is available XD
But oh yeah, forgot tokens were gray. Well, brown it is then for these next guys. Expect a somewhat ugly set of cards next lol

so i believe he'll just be another Yuma, or worse, we'll have Ash Ketchup on YGO (we all know that Red is 100000000x better than Ash :3)

I, for one, thought the concept has some potential for a nice story like 5D's, however, I'm not holding my breath for it.
Pendulum Summon seems to be basically using two "tuners" for the summon, meaning we probably won't be using any of our old cards anytime soon unless they have cards to allow us to. Feels like a clear indication of cashcowing newer cards, at least in xyz summoning we were able to use any old monsters for summoning them. :/

My bad image for YGO anime is still bad thanks to Zexal. Good job, Yoshida.
But sure. I heard the writer isn't "him" anymore, so I'll try to watch this. Who knows Arc-V is much better than Zexal.
Anyway, episode 1 hasn't been aired yet and there's a preview for episode 2? That was quick. And... what?!

...Bad writing detected, even before the anime start. If what I read in the comment is right when the champion used Battleguard...... there must be some new support for Battleguard.
I'll comment more after watching episode 1. Who knows I might change my mind about this Arc-V.

So, finally I got my hand on the episode 1... well, here is what I think about this anime.
At the beginning of the anime, there's a picture that makes me can't stop smiling. Why?
Spoiler:
Yap. She is there. And she looks very good too. Oh, and it's not the old hag in jacket.
For those who want to watch but trying to avoid spoiler... don't open the spoiler tag below. Here is what I think after I watched it.
Spoiler:
As for the rest, well... I gotta say Yuya is much more likeable than Yuma, even in episode 1. Not quite an idiot hero, but he is some kind of joker at the core. and for once, there's a YGO character who seems to live with his mom. Yes, I know Yuma has mother too but he doesn't live with her.
Oh, and Yuzu >>> Kotori. Nuff said.
As for the duel, it's quite confusing to see these action cards. Those cards probably has a same theme with speed spell, a slightly different rule of dueling from 5D. There are several case where Yuya ride his pink hippo and when opponent monsters attacked, he found an action card, and defended himself well. The champion's method of duel is... well... he used 2 Battleguards, special summon them with some spell card, and tribute summon them. Great method champ. Ah, no wonder you're a champion.
Toward the end of episode : new power as plot demands. When Yuya is at pinch, all of a sudden the pendulum activates and suddenly some monsters on his hand became pendulum monsters, which allows Yuya to perform a pendulum summon, and summoned 3 monsters at the same time, each has level 2, 4, and 7. Episode ends here. This is just a first episode, and they already allow the main character to create a new game mechanic. I wonder what kind of a**pull Yuya would do next?
Overall, the atmosphere is better than Zexal, even though not much. The characters are better than in the Zexal, even though still... bad. The champion actually has Hokuto no Ken style of outfit.
