Charmer Forum 5th Anniversary Contest Poll

Voting Rules:

- After you voted in the poll, you also MUST post a reply about which entry you already voted.
- If you vote your own entry, it doesn't count.
- Vote will be counted from your reply message about the entry you voted, instead from forum's poll feature. This is to avoid cheating.
- Participants in this contest must submit a vote. If until the poll is closed and the participant doesn't vote anything, they wouldn't get the CP reward.
- Poll will be closed 2 weeks from now, at our forum's anniversary (September 22).

I vote for the corrupted charmer Yumi

Voted Hippocampus. Not because Eria x Dharc, but the Charmers he portrayed is really, really close to my vision about them. Also unique in its own respect with slice of life aspect inside it, which develops each Charmer's character in its own way.

One vote for Yami from me, because I really like his story for this contest. Love the way you portray those Charmer's personality, bro. XD

All in all, good work, everyone! You're all awesome!

First of all, thank you Dharc and Eria for your votes. I purposefully have not viewed the poll thread at all until just now, so I wouldn't be biased to vote based on majority/minority, and seeing your responses were a pleasant surprise.


Alright. After MUCH internal debating... I will say that my favorite of the contest entries is:


Catastor's fanfic.

I love the open-ended description he used. The imagery I get from reading it is vivid and impactful; it really paints a picture in my head and the verbiage was stellar considering the author isn't a native English speaker. The piece overall is short, but it doesn't have to be lengthy to be powerful. I also think that not even mentioning a single Charmer's name was very clever.
So congrats, catastor. You got my vote

Everyone did a great job though! I enjoyed viewing all the entries!

Poll was ended. Too bad there's many of us that voted without posting who they are and who they voted. Time to calculate by applying voting rules. So, the result is:

Catastor: voted by Hippo. Total = 1
Hippo: voted by Binding Dharc and me. Total = 2
Yami: voted by hiita lover and Runo. Total = 2
Kirikaze: voted by Wynn and Yami. Total = 2
Wynn and Binding Dharc: no vote. Total = 0 (cheer up! )

Just as stated in the OP, the poll will be counted from the reply message, not based on the poll feature. So after you put your vote, you should state which entry you voted in your reply, so your vote can be counted in it.

though, does the forum software not allow poll creation that shows who voted what? because that seems like a pretty basic thing to leave out (all other forums I've been on have had at least that)

Seems the default poll feature of Forumotion didn't support that. Not sure if they already fixed that or not, though.

Unfortunately I already seek help from Support Forumotion Forum, and indeed, Forumotion doesn't have feature to allow member to see who voted what. Lame, I know, but it can't be helped. Hopefully they implement that feature in the future.

Well it's not like it really matters in this poll, since a person's reply should contain a reason why they voted as such in the first place. As for other polls, sometimes it's nice to have a mystery of who voted what (although maybe moreso if/when we get more active members). And tbh there are a lot of things this forum could have but doesn't, and this wouldn't be the first thing I'd add if we had to choose.

I don't know, to get Charmer Points? This is not my first forum and this would not have been the first time I've seen someone post a comment with no clear objective other than to have stated their thoughts.

The point is: the rule was that you are supposed to state who you voted for in your comment, lack of doing so, regardless of implication, results in it not being valid. I suggest if you want your vote to be valid, you should edit your comment on the Round 2 poll.

I ain't even care about Charmer points or any forum currency. and the objective was decently clear enough for at least something like this. I'm not bothering with X type of submissions, so with there being only one Y type it automatically defaults to my choice (if I wasn't going to vote and/or hated the Y submission I wouldn't of even bothered logging in, waste of my time)

and I refuse for reasons stated above. don't even care who wins, I just find neon light level implications being completely missed baffling



plus really with the way its set up, the poll shouldn't even exist in the first place. votes are based on what was posted and not vote tally, and its entirely possible someone could false claim a vote as well so the poll serves no purpose at all other than to be there

No such thing exists. Any time you chose to imply something instead of directly stating it outright, you give yourself a 50/50 chance of being misunderstood. There is no such thing as an implication that cannot be misunderstood.

And besides, if you "don't even care who wins", why should someone assume you're casting a vote? Because like I said, I've seen plenty of people post comments for the sole purpose of posting a comment. the statement the you are not reading the fanfics doesn't imply anything, all it tells us is exactly what it says, that you are not reading the fanfics.

I can't help it if this forum needs things spelled out for them apparently. I've already explained in full detail exactly how its implied as all fucking shit. Which even if I take your not neon light level argument, its still pretty goddamn obvious what my post was saying.

Also I don't care what the idiot posters do, x does this so by virtue y should as well is a piss-poor argument. Plus if people are expressing an opinion or anything in regards to polls they're typically voting as well. Its not like some general discussion thread, where even posting just to post has merits provided its in realms of the topic being discussed. If they're posting that typically means they've voted or if they haven't are responding to someone else that posted, (which I hadn't done the latter until now so...) with cases where they don't being a pretty clear-cut don't care/neutral stance.

Dharc is trying to reason with you and he gave you a solution to your mistake, and you are completely dismissing him, insulting him and swearing at him in the process. That is unacceptable behaviour. You can be mean in any other corner of the internet, but not on this forum. So apologize, and then drop this argument. This is your final warning.

Also, when people vote in things like polls, it's because they've seen ALL the entries and can make a well-informed decision about what they think is best. Voting for something because you're too lazy to read the other entries is the exact opposite of this, or to use your own words, "pretty pathetic". So Dharc, as well as the rest of us, made the logical assumption that your refusal to read the fanfics implied that you weren't going to vote. I detest fanfics (as anything not let's read material), and am pretty positive I've mentioned this on numerous occasions. Why would I bother to even read something I already know I don't care about at all?

Granted I will give that only choosing the art piece because its not a fanfic is a pretty unfair decision, but I'd say the fault also lies in the submissions being heavily skewed to one medium that I have zero interest in. Of course if the art was poor to me, I'd of just voted nothing, but its a half-decent piece so I let it by.
